Sharon Stone was at the Cannes Film Festival, and someone put a microphone in front of her mouth, and well, she just started spewing out moronic nonsense like she usually does. She’s been flashing her body parts, but that hasn’t got her very much attention, so she tried making offensive political statements. Sharon said:

Well you know it was very interesting because at first, you know, I am not happy about the ways the Chinese were treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And so I have been very concerned about how to think and what to do about that because I don’t like that.

And I had been this, you know, concerned about, oh how should we deal with the Olympics because they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine.
And all these earthquake and stuff happened and I thought: IS THAT KARMA? When you are not nice that bad things happen to you.

And then I got a letter, from the Tibetan Foundations that they want to go and be helpful. And that made me cry. And they ask me if I would write a quote about that and I said I would. And it was a big lesson to me, that some times you have to learn to put your head down and be of service even to people who are not nice to you. And that’s a big lesson for me …

Natalie Portman looks stunning in stripes at the closing ceremonies and premiere of What Just Happened? at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival on Friday in Cannes, Frances.

Model/actress Milla Jovovich also looked elegant for the premiere and closing ceremonies at Cannes.

Also seen was Keri Washington. What do you think of Natalie Portman’s dress. We think it looks cute but it definitely overpowered her. And Milla looks amazing.

No wonder she bonds with Eva Longoria easily. Both are actresses, newlyweds and a desperate housewive.

Aishwarya smiles at the memory of bonding with Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives). “We bonded so well at Cannes. No one would believe we had just met. Actually, Eva, Rachida Brakni (who did the original French version of Chaos which Ash was supposed to do) and I got married recently. So we bonded over that common element,” says Aish.
She then talks excitedly about another memorable moment at Cannes. “Jean Reno, the wonderful French actor, came up to me and said he has heard good things about my film, Pink Panther. These legendary actors are so hassle-free! They don’t think twice about approaching you with a smile and kind words. That stays with you and is easier than making an effort to avoid people,” she says.Aishwarya tells us about the films she saw at Cannes. She says excitedly, “I caught three-and-a-half films, including the opening movie Blindness, and the new Indiana Jones film. I could only catch half of Kung Fu Panda because I had to do some press interviews. I also saw the new Woody Allen film, Vicky Christina Barcelona. And yes, I met Woody Allen, he’s wonderful!”
On her stunning sartorial grace on the red carpet, Aishwarya says, “This time around, I guess I had more time to prepare.”While Aishwarya understands that people check out her clothes and accessories at important events, what she can’t understand is why the clothes she wears at Cannes become more important than what she does at the annual event. An exhausted and jet-lagged, Aishwarya laughs and says, “I don’t even want to think about what people thought of my clothes. To me, how I conduct myself at Cannes and how people react to me is far more important than what I wear. Cannes has always been a marvelous and memorable experience. And this time too, it was no different!”

You need to have that kind of stature to reach Cannes’: I was supposed to walk the RED CARPET at Cannes but I missed it because my flight was delayed. And to think I flew some 17 hours for that one appearance! But I did attend the dinner and the next day’s event.I enjoyed Cannes because I got to play an actress after so long.

These days, IPL sees me dressed in tees-jeans and no make-up. Here, I wore a designer gown, emeralds and a 1930s hairstyle. For me, the red carpet is about looking like a complete doll. If I do this kind of thing here, people will think I am crazy. Also, you need that kind of stature to be at an event like Cannes. There, I met Cate Blanchett, Misha Barton, Gillian Anderson among others. Also, when I was out shopping in Cannes, a group of French women came to me and called me Zaara as they had seen Veer-Zaara. India is sure going places!
