Every filmmaker desires to work with superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Recently, Madhur Bhandarkar expressed his willingness to direct Big B and now it’s the turn of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He had once directed him in Black and again wishes to cast him in his forthcoming film Chenab Ghandhi.
Talking about his venture with Bhansali, Big B says, “It will be inappropriate to talk about the project as we are just discussing its script. But, yes I was approached to do the film and it will be directed by his assistant, while Bhansali will produce it.” It’s titled Chenab Gandhi. At present, he is busy shooting for Alladin and yet to give his dates to Bhansali. The film will also star the next door gal Vidya Balan and debutante Harman Baweja

RANI DOES NOT LIKE TO BE BRANDED YASH RAJ
June 24, 2008
“What exactly do people mean by this?” says a source very close to Rani. “Agreed Rani has done comparatively more films with the Yashraj banner. But that’s because any heroine in Bollywood would be foolish to turn down an author-backed heroine-centric part like Laga Chunri Mein Daag.”
Continues the source, “In fact Rani makes it a point to remind people that lately she did Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna, Ravi Chopra’s Baghban and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. None of these is a Yashraj film.”
In fact if rumours are to be believed, Rani is on the verge of signing a couple of films that are far removed from the Yashraj banner.
“One of course is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical Bajirao Mastani, which is far from shelved. Sanjay plans to make the film in the near future. And while the rest of the cast may change Rani as Bajirao’s wife remains in place. There are other films that Rani is seriously considering,” says the source.

Adds the source, “Some time ago, Rani said ‘no’ to Mira Nair’s Namesake for emotional reasons. The excuse was dates. But Rani had her own reasons for foregoing a role that has changed Tabu’s career internationally. Today Rani is in a space were she realises being hard-headed and business-like is what Bollywood is all about. She certainly does not want to be branded as a Yashraj heroine.”
Whispers that she acts like a hostess at Yashraj Studios are strongly denied by people close to the organisation. “This is all in people’s minds. Rani is at home in every production house. Have you seen her with Karan Johar or Sanjay Bhansali? She’s totally relaxed in their homes, has long chats with their moms and even goes into their kitchen at will.”
At the moment Rani is in intense preparation for her cricket film with new director Anurag Singh. Says the source, “It’s being said she’s agreed to work with a new director because of the banner. But Rani has worked with Kunal Kohli and Shaad Ali. Even Karan Johar was a debutant when Rani did Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. As for working with only Yashraj, Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic is entirely Kunal’s production. Yashraj have only lent their name.” You said the opposite RANI:

AN OPEN LETTER TO SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI
May 15, 2008
Dear Sanjay,
We hear you are venturing on a new film called Bajirao Mastani. It is based on the life of Bajirao, his wife Kashibai and his mistress Mastani. It is a true life story. Right?
Also Abhishek will be a very excellent choice as he is in the peak of his career and well, he is a fantastic actor now isn’t he?
You are still looking for an actress for the role of Mastani. Aren’t you Sanjay. We have the Perfect Mastani for you. Rani Mukherjee.
She will be the perfect mistress. She is the best actress around now isn’t she? She was amazing in Blacka and was the only highlight in Saawariya wasn’t she? Besides, her rather “colourful” relationship with both Abhishek (ROMANCE) and Aishwarya (CHALTE CHALTE) will add the needed publicity for the film.
No darling, do not worry if the two btiches will claw their fingers on ech other’s faces. They are too proffessional for that. You forget that these two are the best of friends.
Aish says she loves Rani. Look at the video.
And Rani says she will be friends with Aish forever. You don’t believe us? Look at the video.
What are you waiting for Sanjay. They will behave do not worry about them. If they start to spit at each other’s faces, bring Madhuri in. The momma will slap the living daylights out of them.
And we hear Amitabh will play an important role essaying the film? Please no, get him out. The greatest Indian actor but please Sanjay, you are making a box office movie. Because you know why?
If Amitabh were to be in the film, he will definitely bring his wife, Jaya, that possessed whore who think sh is all that. We all know she isn’t right Sanjay. Yes, pick Kiron Kher. She is amazing.
Ok Back to the topic, if Jaya is in the sets, this film will never see the light of day. Jaya will poison your mind to get Rani off the movie. We do not want that now do we? Hello Sanjay, RANI, ABHISHEK and AISHWARYA. Box Office, National Awards, Filmfare, Zee Cine, Nomination for Oscar, IIFA, everything baby. Everything.
Do not settle for less.
Get Rani now.

2 EYE CANDIES

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is planning a film with Hrithik Roshan and his Saawariya hero, Ranbir Kapoor. It is reliably learnt that the filmmaker is in talks with both the actors.Bhansali, who was was in Paris directing the musical Padmavati, returned to Mumbai last week ‘Bhansali’s back’ Says a source, “Although Sanjay was put off with the response he got post Saawariya, it has not affected the story-teller. He was meant to start his Heera Mandi project after Saawariya but now he wants to put that on the backburner.
He has a two-hero, one-heroine script ready and that is the one he wants to start early next year.”
The source adds, “Bhansali has already sent a copy to Hrithik Roshan. On the other hand, Ranbir has spoken to Sanjay about the project and is going to be a part of this project too. The film is also said to be backed by Sony Pictures after the two made Saawariya,” the source concludes.
WE have forgotten about SAAWARIYA
March 19, 2008
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali received a 15 minute-long standing ovation from a 2,500-strong crowd at the posh Theatre du Chatelet in Paris for his adaptation of Albert Rousell’s melodramatic opera Padmavati.
The director talks to Us from Paris. “It is a very, very, very proud moment,” gushes Bhansali.”For one-and-a-half months, I have been living Padmavati. It was very challenging to do an opera, which is completely different from my world of filmmaking, in front of a live audience. And that too, in a foreign land with the help of foreign people,” says Bhansali. He’s still coming to terms with the thrill of going live, both in terms of the immediate appreciation and the tension of anticipation.”I can’t explain in words how the curtains came down with a trail of thundering applause.
I was a nervous wreck a night before the staging. As the opera opened I was backstage, watching it on the monitor. For two hours, I was on tenterhooks, waiting with my fingers crossed.I was counting, one scene over - 15 more to go.” Written by Albert Roussel in 1923, the opera is the story of Padmavati, the queen of Chittor, who gave up her life to preserve love and dignity.”The script was written in French and the music was Western Classical. Though we have taken a chance with a few Indian-style compositions, I have kept the look and feel completely Indian, in terms of rituals and body language. It was a wonderful fusion,” he says. So, what next? “There will be another film.”
Really! “It might be a happy love story” he elaborates. It’ll be interesting to see what emerges post the failure of Saawariya and the success of Padmavati.
